A Belize City family is pleading for answers as 17-year-old Alwin Marin Jr. remains missing following a fishing trip.
Marin was last seen leaving home on Thursday to go fishing with 17-year-old Jaheil Westby. Westby’s body was found with gunshot wounds on Friday near the Dyke Area behind the Port of Belize.
Marin’s father said the two teens left home on separate horses to go fishing. However, when concerns arose and a search was made in the area where they were believed to have gone, only the horses were found. Also discovered were Marin’s shirt and slippers, heightening fears for his safety.
Relatives have taken to social media appealing for prayers and public assistance. A cousin described Marin as a hardworking and respectful young man and said the family is devastated by his disappearance. Family members have organized search efforts in the Jane Usher Boulevard area leading toward the port and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
