The Andorran delegation participated this weekend in the 51st Plenary Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie (APF), held in Yaoundé (Cameroon), where it defended the need to make multilateral cooperation compatible with respect for the sovereignty of states. The Andorran representation has been headed by Marc Magallon and integrated by Núria Segués and Pere Marsenyach. At the same time, Clara Vila and Isaac Cabases have represented the Principality in the Francophone Youth Parliament.
In the general debate, focused on multilateralism and state sovereignty, Magallon claimed the diversity of the members of La Francophonie as an element of strength and assured that it is possible to build “a space for dialogue in which everyone is heard, in which differences are respected and in which solidarity never calls sovereignty into question”. The parliamentarian has also participated in the Political Commission, where he explained the current political situation in Andorra.
For her part, Núria Segués has intervened in the Network of Parliamentary Women, which has analyzed the participation of young women, female political leadership and parity. In this context, he presented Andorra’s progress and pending challenges in terms of gender equality. He has also participated in the Education, Culture and Communication Commission, dedicated to the challenges of teaching in the digital age.
Pere Marsenyach took part in the Parliamentary Affairs Commission, where he reported on the upcoming Andorran legislative elections during the exchange on the current affairs of the different parliaments. On the sidelines of the sessions, the Andorran delegation met with the president of the Education Commission of the National Assembly of Cameroon, Gabriel Fandja, to exchange experiences on the respective education systems.
In parallel, the Francophone Youth Parliament has had the participation of Clara Vila and Isaac Cabases. Vila was chosen by her colleagues as spokesperson for the work carried out by the young parliamentarians of the four regions of the APF and presented to the plenary session the four resolutions adopted by the youth forum.
