the new Work Plan 2026-2030 between the governments of Andorra and Catalonia extends from four to seven working groups that will coordinate bilateral cooperation during the next four years. The document, ratified by the president of the Generalitat, Salvador Illa, and the Head of Government, Xavier Espotin the meeting of the past June 26 a Barcelonamaintains the groups of Infrastructures, Health and Cross-border Challengesbut incorporates three new specific areas: Social Affairs, Interior and Public Security, and Language and Culture. In addition, it merges the groups of Waste Management and Energy Management i environment in a single group dedicated to the environment and waste management.
The plan also establishes a more stable cooperation framework than the previous one, since extends its validity from two to four yearswith annual review, and sets a calendar of periodic meetings for each of the working groups. According to the Generalitatthis reorganization responds to the need to respond to the increase in institutional relations between the two territories and facilitate the monitoring of agreements.
The ratification of the document comes after the meeting held on June 26 a Barcelona between island i spotin which the. was also put on the table future special economic zone of Organyà. In that meeting, the two governments agreed to work on a joint proposal on this project to later transfer it to Madrid, with the aim of boosting cross-border economic cooperation. The plan also gives continuity to initiatives such as the creation of a European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation (AECT) between Catalonia, Andorra and Occitaniaas well as shared projects in health, infrastructure and mobility.
