Today, Thursday, the Meteorological Department warned of a severe heat wave affecting 36 states, and will continue until next Sunday, with record temperatures recorded that may exceed 48 degrees Celsius under the shade in a number of states.
The same interests explained, in a special bulletin, that the states of Bejaia, Jijel, Skikda, Annaba, El Tarf, Relizane, Chlef, Ain Defla and Guelma will witness exceptional temperatures exceeding 48 degrees Celsius under the shade, until at least Sunday.
Another warning included the provinces of Tlemcen, Sidi Bel Abbes, Saida, Camp, Tiaret, Tissemsilt, Medea, Blida, Djelfa, M’Sila, Tizi Ouzou, Bouira, Setif, Mila, Bordj Bou Arreridj, Constantine, Souk Ahras, Batna, Khenchela, Oum El Bouaghi and Tebessa, where temperatures are expected to exceed 46 degrees Celsius during the same period.
It also warned that temperatures exceeding 44 degrees Celsius were recorded under the shade in the states of Ain Temouchent, Oran, Mostaganem, Tipaza, Algiers and Boumerdes.
Earlier, the same departments warned of a severe heat wave hitting several states, today, Thursday and tomorrow, Friday, with record temperatures expected to reach 49, raising the alert to the third level in several regions.
Meteorology stated, in a level three warning in red, that the states of Bejaia and Jijel will witness temperatures reaching or exceeding 48 degrees Celsius, starting from nine in the morning until six in the evening, today, Thursday.
The third level warning also includes the states of Skikda, Annaba, El Tarf and Guelma, where record temperatures reaching or exceeding 48 degrees Celsius are expected to be recorded locally during the days of Thursday and Friday.
In another alert, the same authorities expected to record temperatures ranging between 45 and 47 degrees Celsius, and may reach 48 degrees locally, in Relizane, Chlef, Ain Defla and Guelma.
As for the states of Ain Temouchent, Oran, Mostaganem, Tipaza, Algiers and Boumerdes, temperatures will range between 39 and 41 degrees Celsius, especially in the southern regions of these states, during the next two days.
It is also expected that the states of Bejaia, Jijel, Skikda, Annaba and El Tarf will record temperatures ranging between 40 and 44 degrees Celsius, and may reach 46 and 48 degrees locally, provided that these hot conditions continue until at least Friday.
It is also expected that the states of Tlemcen, Sidi Bel Abbes, Saida, Tiaret, Tissemsilt, Camp, Medea, Blida, Djelfa, M’Sila, Tizi Ouzou, Bouira, Setif, Mila, Bordj Bou Arreridj, Constantine, Souk Ahras, Batna, Khenchela, Oum El Bouaghi and Tebessa will experience temperatures ranging between 44 and 46 degrees Celsius.
