The Minister of Health, Azir Aliu, together with the European Commissioner for Health, Oliver Varhey, signed the agreement for Macedonia’s participation in the program “EU for Health” (EU4Health), the largest program of the European Union in the field of health, in Brussels today.
At the signing ceremony, Minister Aliu emphasized that the accession to the EU for Health represents a significant step in the European integration of Macedonian healthcare and a confirmation that the reform processes in the country are moving in accordance with European standards and priorities.
– By signing the agreement, our country becomes part of European efforts to strengthen health systems, improve public health, digitize health services, improve preparedness for health crises and provide better health care for citizens. This is not just joining a European program, but an investment in better health services, stronger institutions and better conditions for patients and health professionals. With EU4Health, our reforms receive additional European support, knowledge and partnerships – emphasized Minister Aliu in his address.
He pointed out that today’s signing is an important signal that North Macedonia not only declares its European determination, but turns it into concrete policies and concrete opportunities for the citizens.
Participation in the program will enable Macedonian health institutions and experts to join European networks, joint projects and initiatives aimed at improving health policies and services.
