Dembele’s hat-trick leads France to sweep Norway by four in the 2026 World Cup
The French national team achieved a deserved victory over its Norwegian counterpart, 4-1, in the match that brought them together this Friday evening, at Boston Stadium, in the third and final round of Group Nine of the 2026 World Cup.
The French national team, which played the match under the leadership of assistant coach Guy Stephane due to coach Didier Deschamps traveling to his country to attend his mother’s funeral, saw four changes to its starting lineup.
Kylian Mbappé started for France, and assisted the first and second goals for Dembele, while Erling Haaland was absent from Norway’s starting lineup.
France imposed a significant advantage in the match, winning it in the first half through Dembele’s hat-trick, before Desiree Doue added the fourth goal in the final seconds of the second half.
France took the lead in the group with a full score, three points ahead of Norway, which qualified from second place.
