
Dominican javelin standout Addison James, named the country’s newest Sports Ambassador, is due to take up the appointment effective September 1, 2026.
The announcement was made by Minister for Sports, Senator Oscar George, during the presentation of the 2026 National Budget, recognising James’ accomplishments and continued contribution to Dominica’s sporting reputation.
The Dominica Athletics Association has congratulated the young athlete on the new role, pointing to his impressive record, including back-to-
back-to-back CARIFTA gold medals and his consistent performances on the regional and international stage.
James has also earned recognition for his dedication to athletics and for proudly representing Dominica in competition.
As Sports Ambassador, James is expected to serve as an inspiration to aspiring athletes and help promote sporting excellence among young
Dominicans.
His appointment adds another distinction to a career that has seen him overcome challenges, achieve notable milestones, and carry the Dominican flag with distinction at major competitions.
