The German company BMW is preparing to resume its commercial activity in Algeria, after reaching an agreement with a new Algerian partner to reopen the brand’s showroom in Cheraga in Algiers, according to what was reported by the “Africa Intelligence” platform.“.

On the industrial side, Africa Intelligence revealed the existence of discussions between BMW and its future Algerian partner regarding establishing a project to manufacture motorcycles in Algeria, which may include, in addition to the model used by the Algerian security forces, the production of a bicycle intended for the public and a scooter.
These developments come in light of the easing of restrictions affecting imports of BMW cars, coinciding with the Algerian authorities’ reorganization of the automobile market and their emphasis on the need to strengthen the industrial presence of foreign manufacturers within the country.
According to the same source, the upcoming industrial project may contribute to facilitating obtaining import quotas for cars, at a time when Algeria continues to move towards linking car import activity with the establishment of local production projects.
