Ulaanbaatar, April 21, 2026 /MONTSAME/.
My name is Gandolgor Davaa. I am a member of the “Mindfull” club of the
Mongolian Intellectual Academy in Darkhan-Uul aimag. I am 61 years old this
year.
I have a daughter and a son. My
daughter graduated from the Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences
in 2015 and decided to live in Darkhan. I moved there with my son to be closer
to her. At that time, my eldest grandchild entered elementary school, and my
son entered fourth grade. Thinking it would support their studies, I enrolled
them in the local branch of the Intellectual Academy. At first, I was simply
taking them to and from classes. Later, instead of just waiting around, I
decided to join them and started practicing sport stacking. Since 2023, I have
been focusing more seriously on this discipline. I have also enrolled all three
of my grandsons in the program.
In April 2023, I participated in the
World Championship in Singapore and placed in the top 10. For my first
competition, it was a very rewarding experience. Later that year, in October, I
competed in the Asian Championship in South Korea and won three bronze medals.
In 2025, at the Asian Championship in China, I earned five bronze medals. At
the 2026 “Mind Games,” I won a silver medal in the pairs category (age 31+) and
a bronze medal in the team relay, finishing third overall.
I am currently preparing for the
National Memory Championship to be held this coming August. I started training
in memory sports in 2025. I believe this sport is especially beneficial for
people my age. When I recommend it to friends, some hesitate out of laziness.
But if you want a long and healthy life, you need to stay active and
continuously challenge yourself. Never think, “I am old.” Instead, think, “I am
young.”
These days, I practice memorization
every morning. For example, I aim to memorize a deck of 52 playing cards within
five minutes. At the moment, I can memorize 33 cards. There is also a
discipline where you memorize multiple decks within ten minutes. I usually
train in five or six different events each day. Our club has a motto: “Don’t do
a little, don’t do too much—do it every day.”
Recently, I have started memorizing
phone numbers saved on my mobile and then deleting them. Through mind sports,
my memory has improved, and I am strengthening my ability to protect myself
against age-related risks such as memory decline and forgetfulness.
