He National Penitentiary and Prison Institute (Inpec) continues to make decisions in the face of the recent scandal for the ““parrandón” vallenato by Nelson Velásquez inside the Itagüí prison (Antioquia), during the past week.
The facts were made known by the Councilor Claudia Carrasquillawho pointed out that the events involved criminals who negotiate peace with the government.

EL TIEMPO learned that this Monday the Inpec made an official turn in the direction of the establishment: he was appointed director in charge Guillermo Andrés González Andradewho has just served as regional head of the penitentiary establishments in the west and the Valley. Even so, it will continue to perform functions Edgar Iván Pérez Ortegacurrent director, who had landed there three years ago with the mission of contain crime.
This newspaper learned that the first order that was given to González was take control of the prison and reinforce all security measures inside the establishment. That is, both González and Pérez will be in charge of the situation.

Guillermo Andrés González Andradea native of Tuluá (Valle del Cauca), was deputy director of detention establishment between July 1, 2011 and February 3, 2020, a period in which he was linked to the internal management of prison centers. Then, between February 4, 2020 and November 30, 2022, he took over as director of the Jamundí High and Medium Security Jail and Penitentiary Complex.
Since December 1, 2022, he has held a position as regional director of Valle del Caucaposition from which it has the coordination of various penitentiary establishments and the execution of security, custody and treatment policies of the population deprived of liberty.
In October of last year, González was the target of a grenade attack in Cali, when a man who was traveling as a barbecue griller on a motorcycle threw the device against his official vehiclewhich was parked in one of the facilities of the penitentiary institute, in the north of the city. The attack no people were injured.

What is the latest we know about the scandal?
As established by the prison authorities, the party took place in the first structure of the prison, where there are prisoners negotiating peace in the Aburrá Valley. The party took place last Wednesday April 8while Pérez Ortega was on rest after having completed his Easter shift.
