SEPoS spikes unbeaten Super League weekend

BIG South East Port-of-Spain (SE­PoS) en­joyed an un­beat­en week­end in the T&T Vol­ley­ball Fed­er­a­tion (TTVF) Su­per League ‘A’ Di­vi­sion as their men and women teams com­bined for three wins from three match­es when com­pe­ti­tion served off at the Na­tion­al Cy­cling Cen­tre in Bal­main, Cou­va last week­end (April 11-12).

In the Men’s Di­vi­sion, SE­PoS over­came a tough test from Po­lice in four sets, 24-26, 25-17, 25-16, 25-21 while in the Women’s Di­vi­sion, SE­PoS over­came the ex­pe­ri­enced CC10, al­so in come-from-be­hind fash­ion in five sets, 17-25, 25-21, 25-19, 17-25, 17-15.

Then on Sun­day, SE­PoS women had a much eas­i­er out­ing as they eased past debu­tants, Noth­ing But Suc­cess (NBS) 25-20, 25-19, 25-17.

A day ear­li­er, new­com­ers NBS, is a mir­ror im­age of the na­tion­al team that earned bronze at last year’s Caribbean Un­der-17 Cham­pi­onship in Ja­maica be­gan with a win over San Fer­nan­do-based JMVP 25-16, 25-14, 21-25, 25-14 and Po­lice hum­bled Kara­su 25-17, 26-24, 25-27, 25-13 while JMVP re­bound­ed on Sun­day to top Kara­su 25-23, 25-23, 25-17 in a close­ly fought match-up

And in the oth­er men’s Di­vi­sion match-ups. Po­lice ral­lied past Glam­or­gan 13-25, 25-16, 25-21, 25-21; JMVP hum­bled DE­fence Force 25-22, 25-17, 25-17 and South­ern Unit­ed Vol­ley­ball Acad­e­my al­so won against Glam­or­gan 25-19, 12-25, 16-25, 25-21, 15-12.

This year’s men’s com­pe­ti­tion com­pris­es nine clubs in­clu­sive of JMVP, Po­lice, BIG SE­PoS, South­ern Unit­ed Vol­ley­ball Acad­e­my, Glam­or­gan, De­fence Force, Chal­lengers, To­ba­go and Zenith and at the end of their one round of round-robin match­es, the top two teams will qual­i­fy di­rect­ly to the semi­fi­nals while po­si­tions three to six will con­test cross-over quar­ter­fi­nals to de­ter­mine the re­main­ing two semi­fi­nal­ists.

And in the women’s com­pe­ti­tion, BIG SE­PoS, JMVP, Po­lice, Noth­ing But Suc­cess (NBS), CC10 and Kara­su will com­pete in two rounds of round-robin match­es, fol­low­ing which the top four teams will qual­i­fy to the semi­fi­nals.
