After an accident on Kangerluarsuk Tulleq (Førstefjorden) near Sisimiut, the Greenland Police share a warning from Qeqqata Kommunia about unsafe ice on Tuesday.
– All driving on the ice on the Førstefjorden is not recommended, writes the Greenland Police on Facebook.
Warden Poul Kreutzmann explains to Sermitsiaq that there were two accidents at the weekend, independently of each other, where vehicles in the form of snowmobiles went through the ice.
– We therefore advise against all traffic on the fjord. The ice is only about to freeze until now, and it is very uncertain, says Poul Kreutzmann.
Qeqqata Kommunia writes in its warning that if you do go out on the ice, it is important to stick to the paths close to land.
