A 47-year-old woman, who was holding a one-year-old child, was fatally struck by a stray bullet inside her Wilton Street home last night, police said.
“The investigation revealed that the victim was inside her home, holding a child, when an unidentified male fired multiple shots from outside the residence,” police said.
“The victim was fatally struck, and the suspect fled the area in an unknown direction.
“The one-year-old child was examined and found to be unharmed. Further inquiries revealed that a man had been chasing another male resident through a yard in the area.
“During the pursuit, the assailant discharged a firearm at the individual he was chasing. The shots entered a nearby residence, striking the victim, who was reportedly seated on her bed in a northwestern bedroom.”
The woman was pronounced dead on the scene.
