This situation leaves him with a foot and a half out of the final call for Javier Aguirre for the World Cup 2026 and furthermore, an argument between them would have “condemned” him not to be considered.
First, a discussion with the coach of the Californian club, Mikey Varascaused the relationship between San Diego and Lozano to break down. By not being considered for the first team and not adding minutes, his presence in the Mexican National Team is at risk, despite Vasco’s desire to call him to play for El Tri.

According to Gibrán Araige, Aguirre spoke with Chucky to express his intention to take him to the World Cup, as long as he was active with his club.
“There was a chat between Javier Aguirre and “Chucky” Lozano a few months ago because of all this problem he had in San Diego. I understand that San Diego was looking to terminate the contract and, obviously, try to reach an agreement, because he still has a contract for a couple more years,” Araige revealed on the Insiders program.
However, Chucky’s response would not have been to Vasco’s liking.
“Chucky said: ‘You pay me my entire contract, everything, complete’. And that was when there was a talk between Javier Aguirre and Chucky where ‘Vasco’ told him: “Let’s see, I’m interested in you, I have you in my orbit to go to the World Cup, but I need you to play.” But Chucky told him no“added the Televisa reporter.
