A 36-year-old man is in critical condition at hospital after being stabbed multiple times during a violent altercation at Pepper Hill, Laventille Road, San Juan on Sunday evening.
Police said officers responded around 8p.m. to reports of a wounding. On arrival, they spoke with a 59-year-old woman who reported that she was inside her home when she heard her front gate being opened.
The woman said she observed two men, both known to the household, standing in her yard. When she confronted them and instructed them to leave, one of the men was allegedly seen holding what appeared to be a knife.
According to the report, the situation escalated when one of the suspects began shouting, “Yuh want to kill meh awa Michael? Yuh want to kill meh awa Michael?” while the injured man stood nearby.
Moments later, both suspects allegedly attacked the 36-year-old victim, stabbing him multiple times, once to the upper left arm, once to the left chest, and once to the left back near the rib cage.
After the attack, the suspects fled the scene and returned to a nearby home opposite the residence. One of them was heard shouting, “Nobody will sleep here tonight!”
Emergency Health Services personnel responded and transported the injured man to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, where he underwent emergency surgery. He remains in critical but stable condition.
