PARAMARIBO — SV Robinhood recorded an impressive victory in the Suriname Major League (SML) on Sunday evening. The leader left no stone unturned by Broki and triumphed with a whopping 6-0.
What was initially seen as an exciting confrontation turned out to be a one-sided match. Murgillio Esajas and Ravello Zijler were the standouts on Robinhood’s side. Zijler scored three goals, while Esajas played an important role with a goal and several assists. Jamilio Rigters and substitute Darrel Sijpenhof also contributed to the big win.
“After the break, Robinhood continued to dominate”
Before kick-off there was a special moment when both teams honored Thosiro Prika, caretaker of SV Leo Victor, for his heroic performance a day earlier during the game against SV Notch. Without hesitation he came to the aid of player Farrento Prika. His quick action prevented a serious incident. As a token of appreciation, he received shirts from both teams and a sum of money from Inter Moengotapoe.
The match started evenly on the field, but after Esajas’ opening goal in the 21st minute the game turned completely upside down. He put Robinhood ahead with a devastating shot from outside the penalty area.
Six minutes later Zijler doubled the score after good preparatory work by Esajas. Not much later, Rigters signed for the 3-0, again on the instructions of Esajas. Just before half time, Zijler scored his second of the evening with a beautiful solo, making the score 4-0.
After the break, Robinhood continued to dominate. Zijler completed his hat-trick in the seventieth minute and brought his season total to seventeen goals. In the final phase, Sijpenhof set the final score at 6-0 after an assist from Rigters. With this convincing win, Robinhood consolidates its position at the top of the SML.
