The Autism Dialogue Table presented the 2026 Medal for Inclusion to Oscar Villanueva, president of Quiéreme como Soy, in recognition of his career of more than 15 years promoting initiatives in favor of inclusion.
The distinction was presented by Fernando Quiroz and Iranna Flaviá Luciano, coordinators of the Table, together with their son Fernando Gabriel Quiroz Flaviá, a young 16-year-old painter on the autism spectrum.
The recognition is part of the 3rd Autism Awareness Week, held in Ágora, which brought together families, specialists and institutions for several days in an agenda of a psycho-educational and artistic nature, with the exhibition “High Relief: two voices”, by Fernando Gabriel.
Due to travel commitments, Villanueva was out of the country at the time of the closing, so he received the Quiroz Flaviá family in advance in his office, in a close meeting.
A representation of Quiéreme como Soy participated in the closing day, led by its executive director, Patricia Castillo, who highlighted the work of the entity and its support for organizations linked to the cause of inclusion.
Quiroz and Flaviá valued the sustained work of Quiéreme como Soy, highlighting its educational approach aimed at raising awareness and promoting a culture of respect, empathy and inclusion towards people with neurodiversity.
This is the second award of the Medal for Inclusion. The first was awarded to Odile Villavillar, president of the Manos Unidas por Autismo Foundation.
As part of the recognition, Villanueva received a work by Fernando Gabriel, a gesture he thanked with words of appreciation and encouragement.
April is World Autism Awareness Month. April 2 was proclaimed World Day by the United Nations General Assembly in 2007.
