The lawyer and university professor Magaly Vásquez González published a message to the public in which she thanked the support received for her candidacy for the position of Attorney General of the Republic and ratified her decision to continue working for the re-institutionalization of the country.
In the statement, Vásquez highlighted the support of the Faculty of Law and the University Council of the Andrés Bello Catholic University (Ucab), as well as other universities, in addition to the Academy of Political and Social Sciences, the National Academy of History, bar associations, civil society institutions and private citizens.
“I deeply appreciate the support offered to my application for the position of attorney general of the Republic by the Faculty of Law and the University Council of Ucab, as well as other universities, the Academy of Political and Social Sciences, the National Academy of History, bar associations, institutions with recognized experience, civil society organizations and private citizens,” he wrote.
The jurist, a member of the National Academy of Political and Social Sciences, who nominated her name as an alternative candidate proposed by opposition sectors, noted that she received that support “with humility” and that she considers it an honor.
Following the appointment of Larry Daniel Devoe Márquez by the National Assembly on Thursday, April 9, Vásquez insisted on the relevance of the Public Ministry. “I reiterate the importance of the Attorney General for the re-institutionalization of the country, at a time when Venezuelans demand clear signs that the public powers act with independence and adherence to the Constitution,” he stated.
At the end of the text, the professor reaffirmed her commitment: “I want to reaffirm the commitment with which I nominated my name as a candidate for attorney general, and which is none other than to continue working, from the academic and professional spaces to which I belong, to promote in new generations of professionals, and in citizens in general, respect for the rule of law and the correct application of justice, essential elements for any democratic system,” she indicated.
Vásquez closed his message with a direct phrase: “Today more than ever, Venezuela needs us.”
