The 2026 edition of the adidas Lima 42K will once again turn the capital into the epicenter of national running. The traditional competition, which will be run this May 24, will reach its sixteenth edition, consolidated as one of the most important events on the Peruvian sports calendar and with an increasingly numerous and prepared running community.
The official presentation took place in Lima with a dynamic format led by Franco Cabrera, where representatives of the organization and the sports brand highlighted the sustained growth that running has had in Peru in recent years.
The test will have distances of 21K and 42K and hopes to bring together around 20 thousand participants. The commitment for this edition aims to offer a more specialized experience, with routes designed under international standards and focused on both the safety and performance of the runners.
“The growth of running in Peru has been sustained in recent years. Today we see runners who are better prepared, more informed and with clearer objectives,” said Rolando Chávez, representative of adidas Peru, during the conference.
One of the aspects that will mark this edition will be the high competitive level. Among the confirmed international athletes are runners from Kenya, Brazil and the United States, highlighting Dominic Letting, champion of the 2024 and 2025 editions in the men’s category. In the women’s category, Atsede Bayisa and Aberash Demisse, winners in previous years, also stand out.
The Peruvian representation will also have important names such as Aydee Loayza, Dina Velásquez, René Champi, Rosbil Guillén, Thalía Valdivia and Zaida Ramos, who will seek to elevate national long-distance running.
In addition to the main competition, a 10K race was announced for next August 8, aimed at a broader audience and designed for those who are just starting out in running or looking for a more accessible experience.
Another point highlighted during the presentation was the importance of physical preparation and health care. The organizers recommended training progressively, respecting rest times and carrying out medical check-ups before facing long-distance tests.
In parallel, adidas presented part of its new running line, with models focused on both high performance and daily training, reflecting how this discipline has also become an expression of lifestyle for thousands of people.
Prior to the competition, the Expomaratón will take place from May 21 to 23, a space where runners can pick up their kits and participate in different activities related to the running world.
The adidas Lima 42K continues to grow year after year and not only as a high-level race, but as an experience that brings together preparation, effort and community in each kilometer traveled.
