Popular streamer Darren Watkins Jr., widely known online as iShowSpeed, brought international attention to St. Kitts on Wednesday, April 29, during a whirlwind Caribbean livestream tour that saw him broadcast across four countries in approximately 14 hours.
The streamer, who commands an audience of more than 53 million followers, arrived in St. Kitts to an enthusiastic welcome, with supporters gathering along the airport fence to catch a glimpse of the global content creator.
From there, he traveled to Timothy Hill and the iconic “St. Kitts” sign, where he took in panoramic views of the Southeast Peninsula and participated in a traditional masquerade performance, showcasing elements of the island’s culture to millions of viewers worldwide.
He later rode an ATV to Frigate Bay’s Strip, where he visited a local restaurant and sampled several traditional dishes, including goat water, saltfish and dumplings, black pudding, cookup with saltfish and pork, and steamed potfish with cornmeal. Among the dishes sampled, goat water and cookup received noticeable attention during the tasting.
During the visit, Nevisian artist Vaughn Anslyn also presented iShowSpeed with a custom portrait, a gesture that highlighted local creativity and talent before his global audience.
Another memorable stop came when he met Jefferlin Nesbitt, known locally as Jeff, an 11-year-old known locally for riding his donkey. The pair later took part in a short race that generated positive reactions from both onlookers and online viewers.
The streamer also made a brief stop at KFC, where he greeted staff members before sampling a menu item. He has become known throughout his Caribbean tour for visiting KFC outlets in each destination.
From there, he proceeded into Basseterre, where large crowds gathered to welcome him. He later joined a sound truck, where he observed the turnout as local personality Michelle D. Stokes, known as Sweet Sister Sensia, presented him with gifts during the lively town reception.
His visit to St. Kitts was brief and fast-paced, as he still had one remaining island stop on the tour. The Federation formed part of an ambitious regional journey that began earlier that same day in Dominica, before continuing to Guadeloupe, arriving in St. Kitts, and later concluding in St. Maarten.
The high-profile stop placed St. Kitts before a massive audience, highlighting the island’s culture, cuisine, scenic beauty and hospitality, and leaving a strong impression on residents who warmly embraced the international exposure.
