Shaheed El Hafed, May 5, 2026 (SPS) – The President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Brahim Ghali, received on Tuesday a high-level Italian delegation currently visiting the institutions of the Sahrawi state.
The delegation includes the Chairwoman of the Human Rights Committee of the Italian Parliament and her assistant, as well as the Italian Consul in Algeria.
During the meeting, President Brahim Ghali praised the visit, expressing the Sahrawi people’s deep appreciation for the solidarity and support consistently shown by Italian friendship and solidarity associations toward the struggle of the Sahrawi people and their just cause.
President Brahim Ghali briefed the Italian delegation on the latest developments in the Sahrawi issue and the achievements made by the Sahrawi people at both national and international levels, stressing that the struggle will continue relentlessly until national objectives are achieved.
For her part, the Chairwoman of the Human Rights Committee of the Italian Parliament commended the visit, stating that it allowed her to closely observe the situation of the Sahrawi people and their legitimate struggle, as well as the functioning of Sahrawi institutions.
She also emphasized the need to urge the Italian government to adopt a firm position in order to reach a just solution that enables the Sahrawi people to exercise their right to self-determination.
The meeting was attended by the Minister of Social Affairs and the Promotion of Women, Suilma Beirouk, and the Polisario Front’s representative in Italy, Fatimetou Hafdallah.
