The Prime Minister Christian Mickoski said that the Government will not depart from, as it said, the “red lines” when it comes to the Macedonian identity in relations and negotiations with Bulgaria.
He emphasized that identity issues are the basis of the state’s position and that there is no room for compromise “not even a millimeter”. According to him, he does not expect a change in the attitudes of official Sofia, even after the announcements about the formation of a stable government in the country.
Mickoski estimated that the reason for this situation partly lies in, as he said, the existence of domestic political and social structures that are ready to make concessions in relation to Bulgarian positions.
In his statement, given after the memorial service in Church of St. Salvation on the occasion of 123 years since the death of Gotse Delchevthe Prime Minister emphasized that it is inadmissible in the 21st century to dispute the identity of historical figures and the Macedonian people.
Despite the criticism, he emphasizes that the Government remains open to bilateral talks with Bulgaria, but insists that they be conducted on the basis of arguments and mutual respect.
