The Fatherland Union submitted a legislative initiative on Wednesday that aims to adapt the legal framework for mobile phone coverage in Liechtenstein.
According to VU, there is an increasing need among the population and companies for a more stable mobile communications infrastructure. Feedback from the public as well as from the Chamber of Commerce pointed out gaps in the existing network. Secretary General Dietmar Hasler said in the filing to 1FL TV: “Liechtenstein has the best-developed fiber optic network, but we are lagging behind when it comes to the mobile network.” The aim is to achieve the European average for mobile communications, as Austria, Germany and other EU countries already know it.
A central point of the initiative concerns the so-called investment limits, which are now set by law. In the future, these should be regulated at regulation level. However, the emission limit values, which are crucial for health protection, should remain anchored in the law unchanged.
