MINSK, 2 May (BelTA) – Since the beginning of the year, more than 220 large families in Minsk have received housing construction allocations, Irina Gontareva, Chair of the Construction and Investment Department of the Minsk City Executive Committee, said in BelTA’s project The Nation Speaks.
According to a government resolution, Minsk has been assigned a target of commissioning 482,400 square meters of housing in 2026. “A total of 85,000 square meters of housing has already been put into operation. Of this, 17,300 square meters were built with state support for citizens registered as needing improved housing conditions. In addition, 4,700 square meters of rental housing have been commissioned,” Irina Gontareva said.
She noted that housing construction within Minsk is gradually decreasing due to limited available land. “There are currently 83 housing construction projects underway, with a total area of 830,000 square meters. Of these, 30 residential buildings totaling 285,000 square meters are being built by municipal state developers, while 53 residential buildings totaling 544,000 square meters are being constructed by commercial developers. Thus, the ratio is 35% municipal to 65% commercial,” she explained.
In addition, the government has set a target of directing 660 large families to housing construction. “So far, 221 large families have received housing construction allocations, which is 33.5% of the annual target. District housing policy departments are currently distributing seven more residential buildings under construction for large families. Among these projects are residential buildings within Angarskaya and Magnitnaya streets, on Roza Luxemburg Street, within the boundaries of Sharangovicha and Goretskogo streets, on Vygotskogo, Geologicheskaya, and Karvata streets, as well as low-rise development in the Severny microdistrict. These facilities will be offered for allocation,” Irina Gontareva summarized.
