He cast doubt on Moscow’s intentions, pointing out that Russian attacks on Ukrainian cities continued, including strikes on Kharkiv Oblast and the Dnipro.
“This is Russia’s war against Ukraine. If there are negotiations, we need to know what is being discussed,” Zelensky said.
Threats from Moscow
Russia’s defense ministry has warned that if Ukraine attacks Moscow during the May 9 celebrations, a “massive missile strike” on central Kiev will follow.
The department even called on civilians and foreign diplomats to leave the city in such a scenario.
Controversy over the “truce”
Kiev recalls that Russia has repeatedly violated announced ceasefires. During the last one – for the Orthodox Easter – more than 400 violations were reported.
Ukraine is demanding a full and unconditional ceasefire, but the Kremlin refuses such a step and offers only temporary pauses.
Moscow traditionally marks Victory Day with a military parade in Red Square, but this year the event will be limited due to fears of attacks.
