César David Guavita of Team Best PC was crowned champion of the fifth edition of the Vuelta Bantrab 2026 this Sunday with a cumulative time of 15:05:28, closing a five-stage competition where he proved to be the most complete and consistent rider in the international peloton.
The final stage, known as the return of the championswas held on the capital’s Bantrab Reforma circuit with 20 laps and 100 kilometers of route, starting at 7:30 AM and concluding around 10:00 AM in a day that will be recorded in the history of Guatemalan cycling.
José Misael Urián from the Sistecredito team took the victory in the final stage with a time of 2:08:56, adding his second consecutive victory after the one he obtained on the fourth day between Salcajá and Patzicía. The Vuelta Bantrab 2026 started on Wednesday, April 29, with a first stage marked by the massive fall caused by a motorcyclist who ignored the safety instructions in the first kilometers from Amatitlán, which forced the race to be neutralized and the official starting point to be redefined from El Florido, Aceituno, Escuintla. Since that opening day, Orgullo Paisa’s Kevin Castillo emerged as the fittest sprinter in the competition by winning the first and third stages, while César Guavita took the lead after the second stage in San Rafael Pie de la Cuesta and held it solidly until the final stage in Guatemala City.
The fifth edition of the Vuelta Bantrab confirmed the dominance of Colombian cycling in the Guatemalan competition, with several teams from the coffee-growing country capturing the main individual and classification prizes. However, the Guatemalan participation left outstanding moments. Mordoqueo Vásquez consolidated himself as the best chapín cyclist in the competition by finishing in seventh position in the general classification.
