The North Central Regional Health Authority (NCRHA) yesterday welcomed a cohort of 61 registered nurses.
In a release announcing the development, the NCRHA said its chairman, CEO and members of the executive management team met with the new intake.
It said the management team expressed sincere appreciation for the nurses’ commitment to serve on the frontline and their willingness to support nursing teams across NCRHA facilities, saying this will help bolster capacity to better serve patients, their families and citizens of Trinidad and Tobago. They also thanked the group for their dedication and encouraged them to continue in a spirit of professionalism, love and care.
A cohort of 50 nurses also began orientation at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex in Mt Hope at the start of the month.
The NCRHA said it recognises the vital role of nurses and remains committed to supporting the delivery of quality patient care. The development comes as nurses across the country have been protesting, calling for pay increases and better working conditions. One such protest is carded for today, with nurses expected to march from the Port-of-Spain General Hospital to the Ministry of Finance.
