The mayor of Skopje, Orce Gjorgjievski, announced that an intervention is underway to extinguish the fire that broke out today in Vizbegovo, at a location near the ring road, where, as he says, a private property where old cars were stored was set on fire. Earlier, as confirmed by the director of the SSO, Stojanche Angelov, it was announced that it was a fire at the waste in Shuto Orizari.

The Skopje fire brigade of the City of Skopje is immediately on the ground and with all available vehicles, equipment and human capacities is actively acting in dealing with the fire, says Gjorgjievski.
“At the same time, the inspectors of the City of Skopje are also on the ground, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the State Environmental Inspectorate, as well as the Public Prosecutor’s Office have been informed about the case. We appeal to the citizens for calmness, vigilance and respect for the guidelines of the competent services. The situation is being monitored carefully, and the institutions are acting in a coordinated manner, in order to bring the fire under control, to protect the citizens and to determine responsibility for the situation” wrote Gjorievski on Facebook.
He emphasized that the City of Skopje will not allow irresponsible behavior and the creation of illegal landfills to endanger the health of citizens and the environment.
“Anyone who threatens the public interest must bear responsibility!” pointed out the mayor of Skopje.
