The Serbia Center Party (SRCE) announced today that “three years have passed since children were shot at the Vladislav Ribnikar Elementary School, but the state has done nothing except feign empathy” and said that “it is the duty of every citizen not to remain silent against the silence with which the regime tries to cover up its own incompetence and absolute lack of moral responsibility.”
“Our goal is a radical change in the value system. We will not stop until we make Serbia a country where children are safe again, where virtues are nurtured, not aggression, and where we are held accountable for such tragedies. The crime in Ribnikar marked us all, but the behavior of the authorities afterwards permanently humiliated us. It’s time to put an end to it,” said Boško Šindić, a member of the Party Presidency, a long-time educator.
He warned that, after this tragedy, there was an even greater escalation of violence with the creation of “a country of criminals guarded by the police, brutal beatings of students and even more pronounced hate speech in the media”.
As he stated, “for years, this regime directly promotes the culture of violence from national frequencies and from the parliamentary benches – aggression, intolerance and trampling on human dignity have become the official policy of the Vučić regime”, noting that the regime created an environment for tragedies like the one in this school.
“Children are left to the streets, reality shows and a progressive value system in which progress is made solely by proving loyalty to Vučić and his corrupt system, while educators are humiliated and devalued. And in fact, they are the only ones who, it seems, are leading a futile struggle on their shoulders through participation in various Violence Suppression Teams that are overrun with bureaucracy,” pointed out Šindrić.
