Šutaj Eštok fears that the public will not lose confidence in a just state. However, he sees only one lawyer

When the minister of the interior To Matúš Šutaj Eštok in November 2023, he did not like the decision of the Bratislava judge Michal Kubiš in the dispute with the Čuril family, he launched a counterattack.

“I am convinced that the judge, who happens to be a classmate of lawyer Mr. Kubina (represents the police officers around Ján Čurilla, editor’s note)may have committed some criminal act of bending the law,” Šutaj Eštok declared at the time.

The president of Hlas did not like the court’s decision that suspended police vice president Branko Kišš could return to work.

To the Minister of Justice Boris Susko appealed to file a disciplinary motion against Judge Kubiš.

For the attack on the judge, Šutaj Eštok earned comparisons to Štefan Harabin and extensive criticism of personalities from the judiciary, which subsequently led him to apologize to the judge.

Two and a half years after these events, the Šutaj Eštok resort is in the opposite position. Again, it is based on the cases related to the Čuril family and again touches on the work of their lawyer, Petr Kubina. The minister filed a complaint against him with the Slovak Bar Association on the grounds that he was disturbed by the lawyer’s statements concerning himself or his subordinates.

You can read in the article

    • against whom the Department of the Interior complains,

    • who hinders Šutaj Eštok,

    • how Smer attacks lawyers and judges.

“Since public criticism of judges by lawyers can threaten the public’s confidence in the judiciary, lawyers must be restrained in their public speeches and are in a disadvantaged position in relation to the court,” Šutaj Eštok’s department wrote in the initiative addressed to the bar association.
