Despite progress in the deal procedures, more than 4,000 film and television industry workers signed an open letter opposing the merger, including dozens of Oscar winners or nominees.
The letter warned of possible repercussions, including job losses, higher production costs, and a reduction in the number of projects that get the green light.
The list of signatories included other prominent names, such as Florence Pugh, Pedro Pascal, Edward Norton, Joaquin Phoenix, and Kristen Stewart, along with prominent filmmakers such as David Fincher and Denis Villeneuve, in a clear indication of the extent of concern within Hollywood about the repercussions of this huge deal.

These developments come after months of negotiations over the future of Warner Bros. Discovery, as Netflix was a leading acquisition candidate before it withdrew from the race in February, opening the door for Paramount Sky Dance to complete the deal.
Warner Bros. Discovery shareholders recently approved the acquisition deal estimated at approximately $111 billion, with the support of businessman Larry Ellison and his son David Ellison, giving the new entity control over a huge library of the most prominent titles and brands, including Harry Potter and Game of Thrones, along with HBO, CNN, the DC Universe and The Lord of the Rings.

The deal is still awaiting approval from regulatory authorities, led by the US Department of Justice and European competition authorities, despite expectations that US approval will pass without major obstacles.
