Work is the “grammar of society”. Thus the Italian bishops underline the profoundly relational and generative nature of work in view of the celebrations for the anniversary of May 1st. Human work must be understood as a collective action capable of building communities, encouraging the exchange of skills and contributing to the development of the country and of all humanity, because work is not only economic production, but a form of “civil love”, through which people collaborate even without knowing each other directly, building social bonds and future prospects.
