Damascus Countryside, May 2 (SANA) The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) at the Ministry of Interior has carried out a series of highly and precisely security operations across Damascus countryside.
The campaigns achieved major breakthroughs, most notably the dismantling of an international smuggling gang, the discovery of drug-manufacturing sites, and the neutralization of local distribution hubs.
According to an official ministry statement, the operations were predicated on meticulous intelligence gathering and surveillance.
In a major strike, DEA units dismantled an international smuggling network operating out of the Rankous border area.
The authorities intercepted a massive shipment en route from Lebanon, transiting through Syrian territory toward neighboring countries.
The haul included approximately one million Captagon pills and one kilogram of hashish, resulting in the arrest of three key network operatives.
In a related context, the anti-narcotics teams successfully raided hidden sites previously used to manufacture Captagon pills.
The secret facilities were found stocked with raw materials, alongside sophisticated machinery and logistical equipment.
Security forces also apprehended the primary manager of these sites, who was referred to the relevant judicial authorities to face legal proceedings.
The scope of the crackdown further extended to the city of Jaramana, where a precise raid led to the arrest of a major drug trafficker.
The DEA reiterated its unwavering commitment to its national duty, vowing to relentlessly track and eliminate all narcotics dens and supply sources to safeguard the security of society.
