23 years ago, when the show “The House of Blissful Buddhas” premiered, younger fans of Fernanda Torres they were not born. Or they weren’t old enough to watch the monologue in which the actress plays a shameless 68-year-old Bahian woman.
“There are people who were virgins. And there are people who were 16, 15 years old, underage. But it’s time for you to learn about sex, about joy and freedom with this wonderful Bahian woman from João Ubaldo“, says the actress in the video announcing the unique performance, on June 6, in São Paulo.
The comedy marks Torres’ return to theater after awards season “I’m Still Here”by Walter Salles, winner of the Oscar for best international film in 2025 and the Golden Globe for best actress. The play will have a single performance, at Vibra São Paulo, with tickets starting at R$50.
The monologue of the libertine Bahian, an adaptation by Domingos de Oliveira of the book by João Ubaldo Ribeiro, directed by Daniela Thomas, is about to reach an audience of three million people.
The last season in the capital of São Paulo was in 2024, before the actress’s marathon around the world with the film about the lawyer’s story Eunice Paiva.
According to her, the presentation in São Paulo will be to “warm up the engines”. Torres wants to travel with the show throughout Brazil and says he has invitations from other countries, such as Portugal, the United States, Germany and England.
“I hope to do it. I have time to do it. I’ll get there. But you know that every orgy needs logistics and preparation”, he said, good-naturedly, about the initial phase of the season of the theatrical success.
In one of the videos promoting the erotic comedy, the actress compared “The House of the Said Buddhas” to good wine. “The older I am, the better I am at understanding that Bahian woman.
