We publish the preface to the book «Francesco al cinema» by Arnaldo Casali (Milan, San Paolo, 2026, 378 pages, 29 euros) written by the Italian director who dedicated three films to the saint of Assisi. The volume reconstructs the chronology of the films dedicated to the Saint, from the most famous masterpieces and works to the lesser-known adaptations, and to projects never made, demonstrating how the figure of Francis has truly accompanied the evolution of cinematographic language.
