Culture Minister Babler confirms Lilli Hollein as MAK General Director and praises her “creative and forward-looking exhibition concepts”. The new term of office starts in September.
Lilli Hollein was appointed MAK General Director by Culture Minister Andreas Babler (SPÖ) for another five years. The selection committee voted unanimously in favor of it, it said in a broadcast on Thursday. Hollein impressed with a clear view of the MAK’s challenges and with creative and forward-looking exhibition concepts.
“Lilli Hollein has led the MAK excellently over the past five years and has positioned it clearly: the MAK actively deals with the big questions of our time in an activist, modern, feminist way,” emphasized Babler. “With a diverse programmatic spectrum, she has developed the MAK into an open place for exchange, addressed different audience groups and expanded it in the spirit of diversity.”
Her reappointment is a recognition of the intensive work of the entire MAK team “to make this important house even more present in recent years,” Hollein was quoted as saying.
