The German government believes that Russia may be involved in phishing attacks targeting prominent politicians, diplomats, the military and journalists.
This was reported to the agency Reuters on Saturday, sources in the German government wrote “Evropska Pravda”.
The agency did not cite details provided to it by interlocutors in the German government.
Germany’s domestic intelligence service, the BfV, and its cyber security agency, the BSI, warned this year of attacks on instant messaging users believed to be carried out by a state-sponsored entity.
On Friday, German federal prosecutors said that since mid-April investigating phishing attacks on Signal messenger, declining to provide further details.
Moscow has repeatedly denied that it participates in hacking operations against other countries.
According to journalists, the attackers hacked the Signal account the head of the Bundestag Yulia Klöckner.
