A bizarre incident happened on the roads of Košice on Monday afternoon. A traffic light pole broke at the intersection of Moyzesová and Poštová streets.
At first he was leaning over the moving cars and later he fell completely.
A witness from the scene talks about the luck that there were no injuries. It is a four-lane road in Stari Mesto, it is heavily congested during the afternoon rush hour.
Traffic lights are managed by the city. He responds that he is investigating the causes of the fall. He wants to fix the traffic lights by the end of the week.
The head of the traffic commission and city deputy Miroslav Špak (independent) reminds us that traffic lights are subject to regular inspections.
The walkers moved and he fell
Katarína Kavková was in the first row of cars during the incident. In addition to the tilting traffic light, she noticed that the police car that was driving in front of her stopped on the sidewalk at the corner of Poštová and joined the other police officers who were already on the spot dealing with the situation.
“We had a red light for vehicles at a bent traffic light, a green light for pedestrians. They were moving both ways and that’s when he fell to the ground. We didn’t take it seriously at first, but when we saw him fall right in front of us, just as the pedestrians let go from both sides, it could have been worse. Fortunately, no one was hurt.”
