A decent life in North Sinai… Rehabilitation of Al-Joura Road in Sheikh Zuweid… and raising the efficiency of the Youth Center

Sheikh Zuweid in North Sinai is experiencing its best days, as the state pays great attention to the city, to develop the road and electricity infrastructure, and with Sinai celebrating its National Day, Ihab Bakir, the head of the city of Sheikh Zuweid, confirmed that in terms of infrastructure development, the Sheikh Zuweid Road axis has been created to connect the city with the new city of Rafah, equipped with lighting poles along the road to facilitate the city’s residents and travelers, and the Sheikh Zuweid – Al-Joura road has also been rehabilitated along more than 10 kilometers, linking the villages south of Sheikh Zuweid, which includes more than 7 villages, to the city.

In terms of electricity, an electricity station has been established in the city and will be opened during the Sinai holidays. All dilapidated electrical cables have also been upgraded and electrical transformers have been installed for a number of villages affiliated with the city of Sheikh Zuweid.

In terms of the sports development of the Sheikh Zuweid stadiums, the efficiency of the Sheikh Zuweid City Youth Center was increased, at a cost of 13 million pounds, as part of the state’s keenness to support the sports infrastructure and provide a safe and stimulating environment for practicing sports and youth activities.

The development work included the administrative building, the library, a recreational area for children, the legal playground at the Sheikh Zuwayd City Youth Center, and the opening of the Addiction Prevention Club, which is implemented by the Central Administration of Youth Centers, “General Administration for Activities and Events of Youth Centers,” in cooperation with the Fund for Combating and Treating Addiction and Abuse.

Bakir stressed that the opening of development work at the Sheikh Zuwayd Youth Center comes within the Ministry’s plan to develop and raise the efficiency of youth centers in the governorates of the Republic, especially in the border areas, in a way that contributes to expanding the base of sports practice, discovering talents, and enhancing the societal role of youth centers.

Ihab Bakir, head of the city, pointed out that the state gives great attention to North Sinai Governorate in various sectors, stressing that sport represents one of the tools for building people and consolidating the values of belonging and loyalty, in addition to its role in developing local communities and integrating youth into the comprehensive development process.

As part of the state’s efforts to develop facilities in Sinai, especially in Sheikh Zuweid, the foundation stone was laid for the rehabilitation of the North Sinai Research Station in Sheikh Zuweid, following its destruction during the period of terrorism.

During the past weeks, the Minister of Agriculture announced a 50% reduction in the prices of all agricultural mechanization services for Sinai farmers, supporting the governorate with agricultural mechanization machines, and providing the necessary needs for agricultural production requirements.

In the same context, support for North Sinai Governorate was increased by 100,000 seedlings, support for female breadwinners amounted to 5 million pounds, to implement small projects, a reward was disbursed to participants in the “Ask and Consult” initiative in the amount of 1,000 pounds, and support for farmers with fertilizers until the farmers’ card is issued.

The Equal Opportunities and Women’s Empowerment Unit in Sheikh Zuwayed, in cooperation with the Endowments Department, organized several cultural evenings in a number of villages, supervised by Dr. Hajar Saleh, head of the General Unit for Equal Opportunities and Women’s Empowerment in the governorate.

In the same context, Ms. Reham Ibrahim, a member of the Equal Opportunities Unit, confirmed that she is in the process of implementing ongoing workshops to integrate Sinai women into civil society by holding workshops for women on activating the role of women by working from within the home, which will contribute to alleviating the burdens of life and providing them with a decent life.

One of the most notable achievements during the past two months is the opening of a taxi stand in Sheikh Zuwayed City, which aims to organize internal transportation and facilitate the movement of citizens, thus contributing to reducing traffic congestion and improving the level of service provided to vehicle drivers and passengers alike.

The wholesale market was also opened in the city, which is an important addition to the commercial sector, and provides a suitable environment for the trading of basic commodities, which reflects positively on the stability of prices and meeting the needs of citizens, especially farmers in the rainy seasons, through which dedicated places are created to sell peaches of all kinds, which the areas of Sheikh Zuweid and its various villages are famous for, as they depend for their crops on the production of local peaches and the establishment of designated places for sale, which contributes to improving the cultural and marketing appearance of the city’s products, which distinguishes them from the rest. Governorates.
