B.K. (44) from Prilep was arrested today at the border crossing “Tabanovce” after, according to the Ministry of the Interior, he deceived the husband of a sick woman from Valandovo, taking 88,000 euros from him for urgent treatment abroad. The woman died in the meantime, according to the police.
“After previously receiving information about a “fraud” crime, the Criminal Police Department, in cooperation with SVR Strumica – OVR Valandovo, took coordinated measures and activities to clear up the case. According to the knowledge so far, in the period from July to November 2025, the suspect, with the intention of obtaining illegal property benefit, misled a person from Valandovo, presenting false facts that he would help organize treatment abroad for his wife. In that way, the injured party paid a total of about 88,300 euros (5,549,200 MKD) on several occasions, in the meantime, his wife died,” said the Ministry of the Interior.
The statement added that a judge in Gevgelija ordered a “precautionary measure”, from which it can be concluded that the suspected fraudster will not go to custody.
