The head of the school district, Rachel Guerra, is no longer available to the authority with immediate effect. The government has appointed Eva Meirer as interim head, who will take over her duties from May 1st.
The government remains silent about the reasons for Guerra’s sudden departure. The message simply states that Guerra will “no longer be available to the school authority until further notice” – a strikingly vague formulation that neither mentions the background nor contains the usual words of thanks and farewell.
Eva Meirer is no stranger to administration: she is a government employee in the education sector and was previously head of the “Middle and Higher Education” department in the school authority. The ministry is convinced that it has found a person with experience in leadership and pedagogy who can bridge the gap that has arisen.
It remains unclear whether this is a temporary or permanent solution.
