The Saint Lucia Football Association’s Eastern Zone Under-20 Men’s District Tournament came to a close on Thursday night at the Micoud Playing Field, with Dennery getting a first-half goal that lifted them to the title.
Dennery’s marker, the only one of the game, came in the 25th minute from the boot of Corin Hunte, as the visitors topped home team Micoud 1-0. During the preliminaries, Dennery had beaten Micoud 3-0.
In the third-place playoff, meanwhile, a strong second half propelled Mabouya Valley to victory, 4-2 over Mon Repos. Dandre Jonas put MoPo ahead in the 21st minute, and Cody Alexander knotted it up in the 26th for a 1-1 halftime score, his fourth goal of the tournament.
A brace from Kurdege Johnny in the 53rd and 63rd put the Valley boys up 3-1, and Kermany Velinor sealed the deal in the 76th. Mon Repos got a consolation goal from Tafari Peter in the 85th.
The Eastern Zone saw 57 goals scored. Mon Repos’ Andreaus Charlery netted six times, whilst Mabouya Valley’s Alexander joined Bourne Innocent of Dennery on four. Ethan Oculi (Mabouya Valley) and Mathaus Aubert (Micoud) finished with three apiece.
The top teams from each zonal competition will go on to play the 2026 Blackheart Tournament, which this year will include only Under-20 teams.
