Recruits: The National Guard is ready

With a slight decrease of approximately 80 people compared to last year, this year’s ranking of thousands of new recruits is expected to take place in National Guard. It is noted that this number may decrease or increase, depending on the number of suspensions and the number of emigrants who will return to serve their term in National Guard. This is a variable, until the last day of the ranking number.

According to information from philenews, the number of new recruits is expected to gradually increase in the coming years, in the next ranks, as there was an increase in births in the corresponding period.

As for which city holds the reins of the numbers of recruits, it is clearly Nicosia with a percentage of around 40%, followed by Limassol with 27%, Larnaca – Famagusta 23% and Paphos with around 9-10%.

As we are informed, apart from the 100 cadets who will transfer to SEAP in Heraklion, Crete for training, special interest is being shown by the new recruits for the special forces and specifically for Commando forces (LOK).

The ranking process, easier than ever

In fact, GEEF and YPAM, in their effort to facilitate the new recruits as much as possible, have established for the first time, a call center which will start operating from the beginning of May. The center in question will operate daily until 8 pm and will serve the public for recruitment issues, digital services as well as guidance for interested expatriates.

It is recalled that the Ministry of Defense announced the launch of the electronic platform for the 2026 ESSO Conscript Selection Data Declaration, with Minister of Defence to invite interested parties to submit their information in time by May 3, 2026. This year’s e-Ranking has been added to gov.cy. and in order for someone to connect, their personal profile must first be identified. Identification is done either through identification at the KEP, or through a video call. Identification can also be done, through an electronic bank connection, if the soldier has one.

This is a measure that will facilitate the process of classification in the next series of conscripts, since now citizens over fourteen years of age will be able to register on the platform, so that they can use various Services.

How will the ranking be done?

Recruits will be notified electronically through their account of the date of their medical examinations. Subsequently, those who are deemed fit for Service, will go to a specific warehouse to receive their individual materials and take them home.

    Recruits will receive:

    1. Exercise uniform – campaign 3 sets

    2. Exercise uniform socks 3 pairs

    3. Beige socks 1 pair

    4. Belt with buckle 1 pc.

    5. Quotient of exercises 2 pcs.

    6. Khaki beret 1 pc.

    7. Sweater 1 pc.

    8. Inner lining blouse 2 pcs.

    9. Gym pants 1 pc.

    10. Gym uniforms 1 set

    11. Short-sleeved jerseys 2 pcs.

    12. Gym socks 1 pair

    13. Sheets 4 pcs.

    14. Pillow case 2 pcs.

    15. Pillow 1 pc.

    16. Woolen cap 1 pc.

    17. Woolen gloves 1 pc.

    18. EF bag 1 pc.

    19. Clothing bag 1 pc.

    20. Slippers 1 pair

    21. Bath towel 1 pc.

    22. Face towel 2 pcs.

    23. Food vessels 1 pc.

    24. Water container 1 pc.

    25. Fork 1 pc.

    26. Spoon 1 pc.

    27. Folding knife 1 pc.

    28. Metal water cup 1 pc.

    29. Earplug 1 set

    30. Electric flashlight with batteries 1 pc.

Then, on the day of the classification, they will go to the appropriate KENs, with their uniform, photo and legal documents, while there they will also receive their gender for the units in which they will serve. It is noted that they will be given informational material with a QR code, for the local starting points of the buses depending on the units they serve.

From the National Guard, it is noted that everything is ready to welcome the recruits.
