As many as 28 percent of workers in the EU always or most of the time feel physically exhausted, while 24 percent of them feel this way in Slovenia, and 14 percent of Slovenian workers experience emotional exhaustion, according to the data of the European survey on working conditions, conducted in 2024. Psychosocial factors of work are therefore still an important challenge of the modern working environment, NIJZ experts warn on today’s World Day of Safety and Health at Work. They emphasize that a healthy psychosocial work environment has a significant impact on public health.
The motto of this year’s World Day is “Ensure a healthy psychosocial working environment”, with which the International Labor Organization draws attention to the necessity of an integrated approach to ensuring safety and health at work and the importance of ensuring an effective psychosocial working environment. Psychosocial risks are also associated with greater sick leave, presenteeism, or presence at the workplace despite feeling unwell and illness, greater turnover of workers, greater likelihood of accidents at work and premature exit from the labor market due to disability.
