Libya’s National Oil Corporation (NOC) denied reports circulating on social media claiming that a fuel shipment did not meet required standards, stressing that the shipment in question underwent a series of additional tests and analyses at the Petroleum Research Center laboratories, which confirmed its full compliance with Libyan standard specifications.
In a press briefing, the corporation said the results were consistent with those of the neutral international inspector SayBolt and a global inspection and services company, noting that the shipment was evaluated by four specialized technical entities, all of which agreed that the gasoline cargo was free of any contaminants.
The NOC added that its chairman had instructed the publication of all related local and international certificates and technical reports on its official website, calling on citizens to rely on official sources and avoid being misled by rumors.
This briefing comes two days after a statement by Brega Petroleum Marketing Company, which said it had halted pumping and replaced part of the supplied fuel quantities due to observations related to an “unusual smell.”
Brega clarified that the suspension measures were “operational” to ensure continuity of supply and do not constitute an admission of responsibility regarding the specifications of the shipments, as its role is limited to basic operational testing.
