Tunisia is taking a new step in its economic expansion strategy in Africa. On the occasion of the 9ᵉ edition of the International Forum for Financing Investment and Trade in Africa “Fita 2026”, opened this Tuesday, April 28 in Tunis, 15 agreements with African chambers of commerce will be signed, while three major projects carried out by private Tunisian companies will be announced on Wednesday.
The president of the Tunisian-African Business Council, Anis Jaziri, underlined the unprecedented nature of this dynamic, affirming that it is a first in the history of the country: the Tunisian private sector is engaging in “gigantic” projects on the continent, with the support of public authorities. This progress marks, according to him, a turning point in the Tunisian economic presence in Africa.
In this same dynamic, a group bringing together 12 Tunisian companies will be launched. Active in key sectors such as infrastructure, energy, telecommunications and engineering, this consortium aims to strengthen the intervention capacity of Tunisian operators and consolidate their positioning on African markets.
For his part, the vice-president of the Tunisian-African Business Council, Mondher Khanfir, highlighted the growing interest of African countries in Tunisian investors. He spoke of a “strong desire” to attract economic players from Tunisia, highlighting the opportunities offered by the continent.
Mr. Khanfir also insisted on the assets that Tunisia has to succeed in this positioning, in particular its qualified human resources, its technical skills and its cultural capital. “Tunisian skills are in high demand in Africa today,” he said.
Placed under the sign of African economic growth through the development of value chains, this 9ᵉ edition of Fita 2026 is thus a strategic platform to strengthen partnerships and stimulate investments between Tunisia and African countries.
Through these initiatives, Tunisia intends to consolidate its role as a regional hub and establish itself as a key player in the continent’s economic dynamics.
