THE BODIES of two men, said to be in their 70’s was found inside of a car today in Valencia.
They have since been identified as, Kenneth Gill of Trincity and Bernard “Sumir” Mahabir of Prescott Lane, Tunapuna.
According to police the discovery was made sometime on Monday morning after relatives of both men filed missing persons reports on Sunday night.
Police said that they were alerted to the gutted remains of a car parked off the Valencia Old Road, North Oropouche. When officers checked the car, a Nissan Tiida the remains of the men’s bodies were found inside.
Officers of the Region Two Homicide Bureau as well as the Police Crime Scene Unit arrived on the scene and after the area near the burnt car were examined, they were moved to a mortuary in Sangre Grande.
Police said that both men were last seen in the Lopinot Village area on Sunday afternoon around 5 p.m. in a while coloured Nissan Tiida that was seen being driven by Gill.
A relative saw both men driving away but calls by both sets of family members went unanswered, a police report of the men’s disappearance was made.
The bodies of the two men are expected to be examined this week at the Forensic Science Centre, Federation Park.
The murder toll stood at 117 up to last night while the toll on this date last year was, 126.
