As prosecutors reported, the politician is suspected of bribery.
According to the prosecutors, there is enough reason to suspect that S. Skvernelis accepted at least 51,000 bills during his tenure as Speaker of the Seimas. EUR bribes in cash for political favors in the exercise of powers related to the activities of the Plantation Service.

“It is suspected that S. Skvernelis may have known that the illegal monetary reward would be paid to him from the illegal income received during the bribery of accomplices in the criminal act,” the report states.
It is said that bribes were handed over to the politician by his advisor Agnė Silickienė, who also worked at the Plantation Service.
The Seimas allowed the MP to be prosecuted, his legal immunity was revoked in a simplified procedure.
According to the General Prosecutor’s Office, the total amount of bribes in this case could reach at least 1 million. 112 thousand euros.
According to the officials, since June 2025, the former head of this service, Yurijus Kornijenko, his adviser Aurelijus Šapranauskas and other persons distributed bribes received from representatives of companies transporting plants and plant products for phytosanitary certificates issued every month to members of the criminal group and other persons, including S. Skvernelis.

It is indicated that these circumstances are recorded in the kept records, in which the nickname “Krabas” is assigned to S. Skvernelis.
According to Prosecutor General Nida Grunskienė, the suspicions against the politician are based on the testimony of witnesses and suspects, evidence found during searches, and other pre-trial investigation documents.
The MP himself rejects the accusations. He told reporters that he neither knew about the mentioned criminal scheme nor took the money.
In total, 16 persons have been charged in this pre-trial investigation. Among them – former Minister of Agriculture Kaziis Starkevičius.
