The Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity Abdul Hamid Dbeibah held talks with Greek Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis on prospects for economic and trade cooperation and ways to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.
Dbeibah received the Greek foreign minister at his office at the Prime Minister’s headquarters in Tripoli on Monday, where discussions focused on Libya–Greece relations and ways to enhance them across various sectors, according to a government statement.
The meeting addressed several issues of mutual interest, including prospects for economic and trade cooperation, as well as recent regional developments. Both sides stressed the importance of maintaining communication and coordination in a way that serves shared interests.
Prior to this meeting, the Greek foreign minister met with the acting foreign minister of the Government of National Unity, Taher Al-Baour, to discuss the work of the joint Libyan–Greek technical committee on maritime border delimitation, illegal migration, and bilateral cooperation.
The talks also covered regional and international developments, with both sides emphasizing the need to intensify political coordination and exchange views in support of security and stability, promote peaceful solutions to crises, and reinforce principles of good neighborliness and regional cooperation.
Both sides also stressed the importance of facilitating the return of Greek companies to the Libyan market, resuming direct flights, and enhancing maritime connectivity to boost the movement of people and goods, support trade exchange, and strengthen economic partnership between the two countries.
