The Ministry of the Environment (MoE) strongly condemns the acts of vandalism perpetrated at the Botanical Garden of Les Cayes, a site dedicated for more than twenty years to the conservation of biodiversity in Haiti. Expressing deep concern, the Ministry denounces actions which harm an environmental heritage of great value to the nation. In response, measures were taken jointly with the Ministry of Justice and the structures concerned, in particular ANAP and the Departmental Directorate of the South, in order to secure the premises and temporarily suspend activities, pending legal action, the MoE said.
